Open, held June 11–13 at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, a
suburb northeast of Pittsburgh. Ben Hogan won a record-tying fourth
U.S. Open title, six strokes ahead of runner-up Sam Snead. Proper press
